[livejournal.com profile] armillary looking dashing at the beginner's tournament in Visby. Notice [livejournal.com profile] emoni's sleeve hanging from his belt - so romantic!

Oh, and Emoni standing in the background too.

Very dashing. :) And I LOVE her pink/maroon kirtle. :)

It's nice, innit? According to her, it happened to be her very first 100% handsewn garment. She wasn't too happy with the result, perfectionist that she is, but I think it's fine.

Oh, I think it's BEAUTIFUL - but we are all our own worst critics. :)

That man needs a *real* sword!

Such a waste to put a good-looking man in a nice-looking clanky-suit and expect him to fight with a padded stick

Just noticed the padded stick.

I agree - need a REAL sword!

Does look rather dashing though!

It's for the sport of it. I like sport, as you know, so I don't mind the stick.

He could do the spaort with a steel sword too, you know - our fighters do (Far-Isles and Paladins)... the sound-effects are so much better too - clanking instead of dull thumps.

I *have* a perfectly good sword, just not in this picture. At some point, after my arms get approved, I'm going to do an actual posed picture without the silly combat boots I'm wearing here. And with the real sword as well.

For what it's worth, I didn't even notice the boots or the sword. Everything else looks so fabulous that my eyes just glazed over those things!

I love that kirtle on Emoni.

And [livejournal.com profile] armillary looks great.

So romantic! They both look great, but I have to agree with the others about the sword. Though he's the first fighter with a padded stick that I've ever seen with such a handsome armour.

Padded??? It's not a padded stick. It's hard rattan covered with a thin layer of duct tape. A little bit of tape is very very poor padding, believe me...

But Still And Anyway, steel swords would be much better.

Very nice armour but I have to agree that padded stick + duct tape does not = sword. It does go well with his shoes though....

Sigh, I wish I did a time period for that armour. Sometimes.

Point for being the first to see the boots. They go especially well with the knitted socks I'm wearing in them too...

*sigh* SCA combat - there's only so much you can do on certain issues. I plan on fixing a few issues that are still outstanding with the kit, but it'll never be 100% accurate.

Well I remember SCA when it started here in Sweden... like 20 years ago. Oh we were so young and unexperienced....even though we tried to do our best.

My first body armour was some kind of karate bodyshield....we had hockey gloves..... plastic plastic plastic! Old hockey shoulder protections..... Yup thoose where the times... (evil grin!(

Hey! I saw them! Carnis fought in real shoes and sabatons.

There are always limitations to what we can do combat-wise whether it's with steel or rattan with safety and look considerations.

Still It's cool armour!
