Tartan

The local haberdasher has tartan bias tape. I know this is something important for me, I just don't know what to do with this knowledge. Suggestions?

I'm envisioning a black princess cut dress with the tartan bias tape marking the seams. (De längsgående sömmarna alltså, men jag vet inte vad längsgående heter på engelska.) I've been watching Project Runway all weekend and am totally fashioned out.
