I've been sewing and re-watching Luther tonight - it really is such a good film: some male beauty (especially Benjamin Sadler), good costumes (they aren't perfect, but they look real. And german), good acting (Peter Ustinov and Joseph Fiennes) and a dramatic story to tell, which they don't take too many liberties with. And you have to love a movie which has the creation of the Augsburg confession as it's climax - it's so much like educational historical dramas from the early 20th century.

I really liked this movie, and the costumes were pretty good. The thing that set me off authenticity wise was all of the bare-headed ladies in church. It could have been a theatrical decision to contrast the changes between the Catholic church and the Protestant church, but it really bugged me. Mebbe I had a little too much background and I deserved the "not costume grumbling again" from my husband? ;)

I've been wanting to see that! With your review, I now feel like it might be worth the investment in time. Yay. :) Thanks. Popping over to Netflix to at it to my queue!
