than the rest of the world apparently. I have just tried to watch "Bridget Jones's diary" on the telly and I found it varying between boring and embarrassing. I know it's supposed to be a film where you laugh in a recognizing manner and feel good about it, but it just didn't work for me. Maybe it's because I've never been 32, single and desperate. (Of course I've been single, but that was over a decade ago and I've never been really desperate.)

I thought it was amusing, but I didn't particularly identify with it, either. Rene Zellweger irritates me with those squinty little eyes and there was a big deal made about her having to gain all this weight to play a "fat chick" and it turns out that she's still a solid size 6 in her "chunky" state. But I love Colin Firth and thought that it was silly the way that he agreed to play a parody of the character he played in Pride & Prejudice.

Anyway, mostly everyone I know who has seen the movie and read the book says the book is much, much better than the movie.

I feel the same way, I only really liked it because of Colin Firth.

I had a hard time relating to the charactor and I'm almost 30, single, and desperate (but not that desparate)

I liked the book alot more.

I think my biggest problem was that she was doing a lot of incompetent/stupid stuff and I really don't think that's funny, just embarrassing. But it may be that I have no sense of humour. No, of course I have a sense of humour, but I prefer witty, intellectual humour with lots of irony in it.

I never bothered watching it - it looked *dire* in every advert I saw for it.

I can't relate either...

I can't relate because I'm *34*, single, and desperate. Not 32.
Hehe.
