Glad to live in 2008

Maja told me yesterday that she and her best friend at preschool are in love and that they're going to get married when they grow up and have a baby. And I'm happy to live in 2008 when I don't even have to tell her that there may be a problem with this plan. Not that she would believe that, since she's met my colleague Hanna who has two kids together with her wife.

(Of course, I've never understood parents who felt the need to correct their kids at this young an age-- it's not like they're going to go run off and get married right away! They'll figure out well before it happens that this is not feasible. My own mother was very tolerant at letting us believe whatever we wanted as very young children, and not needlessly squashing fantasies. I had no issue figuring out for myself at around age seven that horses couldn't really fly.)
