Winter food

The winter really started today - just as it ought to, so I'm making typical (for us) winter food: frumenty with fried bacon, and onions and apple pieces fried in the bacon grease. Add a little clove and you're finished.

Barley grain (or wheat) cooked in stock, known since the earlier middle ages.
