So, what happened with proposition 8?

In all the general happiness I wonder how proposition 8 fared. May I hope that the people of California said no to discrimination?

According to a San Francisco newspaper website, it's 52.4% for, 47.6% against. Pathetic really, isn't it?

Only 64% of the districts have reported yet according to CNN. There's still hope.

It was not a good night for marriage rights in the USA. And they even passed the law (somewhere, I can't remember where) that unmarried couples cannot adopt. Guess that leaves out Brad and Angelina...feh.

That's too bad - though it can't overshadow the giant relief and happiness a lot of us feel right now.

My mom called me (from there), wondering why anybody even bothers to put such things to a vote in that state. I told her so people like her can show how much they disagree with the apparent majority.

Of course I said no, but the rest of the state has spoken :( Let's hope the Supreme Court will strike it down.

The ACLU and San Francisco's city Attorney are already in the works to bring a lawsuit against the state to bring it down. I'm hoping they will.
