frualeydis1 m white linen with woven pattern - veil and wimple
4 m white linen with woven ca 12 mm wide stripes (in white too) - veil + a shift for my coming 13th century spanish outfit
3 m plain thin white linen - A high-necked smock for the 16th c flemish outfit
10 m thin black wool tabby - line stuff, like the 16th c flemish dress and probably a modern skirt too it was less than 1,5 $/metre so I bought it just to have when need arises.
3 m soft pinkish red (dusty rose maybe?)thin wool tabby for a Manesse dress, like the woman with the garland wears.
8 m thin wool in various grey shades in smaller pieces - lining for my red dress and wool sheets for camping. Yes, you read that right. Linen and cotton sucks up so much moist from the air and since the air humidity in Visby usually is very high (Hot and humid in the day, cold and damp in the night) you end up with damp sheets. And this really isn't good if you have arthritis. Wool sheets are sold to people with arthritis, but they are very expensive. Probably less itchy than this wool, but I don't mind that much. This wool is washable in machine too, on the wool cycle, so it should e just fine.
Wool sheets are also mentioned in the 14th Gutnic law.
Anyway, the gigantic wool sheet for our double bed is finished and awaits washing.
9 m dull green thin wool twill - Except for the green tunic in this picture for my husband, I don't know what to do with it yet. I might line something with it or make a dress or surcot for me. It cost less than 5$/metre so I just bought a lot.
1 m very thin wool in a greyish mint colour - a fringed veil, inspired by this image from the Fecamp psalter.

Date: 2004-09-21 08:09 am (UTC)Of course I have yellow wool for a cotte too and a blue surcoat, but since I already have a pink veil, I could recreate this dress (http://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/sammlung2/cpg/cpg848.xml?docname=cpg848&pageid=PAGE0633) instead. BTW, I do own a wooden bathtub together with Elaine, but it is currently somewhere in Skåne. Actually we have talked for some years now about making a photo calendar with the pictures from Codex Manesse. Ingeborg wants to make this picture (http://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/sammlung2/cpg/cpg848.xml?docname=cpg848&pageid=PAGE0558) and I want to make this (http://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/sammlung2/cpg/cpg848.xml?docname=cpg848&pageid=PAGE0351), which we used for our wedding invitations. I have the blue surcoat and Rickard's outfit is finished (http://w1.412.comhem.se/~u41200125/bilder/rickardmanesse3.jpg). I may borrow a red cotte from Ingeborg for the photsession actually, because I don't think I need both a pinkish red and a bright red cotte.
