I've been asked at work to give my opinion about a textbook in world history. We're constantly discussing the course syllabus and read new available books and this is a part of that process. This book is called "Worlds together, worlds apart" by Tignor, Adelman, Brown, Elman, Xinru, Pittman and Shaw and I'm reading part one. Has any of you read it and if so, what's your opinion?

Hmm they don't have it at the library in my school. Is it new?

Not that new; it's the second edition, the first one was printed in 2002. It is a college level book, which is a bit of a problem for us, since it's frequently too simplified for the university, but there aren't that many books to choose from if you want one which covers all of world history. Right now we have McKay, Hill, Buckler: "A history of world societies" which has some very good chapters, but is uneven - and has a more traditional disposition, which could be perceived as a drawback.
