[livejournal.com profile] idahoswede, where was it that you bought the silk for boss lady's wedding dress? A friend's daughter is looking for sources for silk in London, I have already told about Classic Textiles and the market in Dalston which [livejournal.com profile] mylaydswardrobe's friend Isabella told me about, but I want some more suggestions.

Ack, I don't remember the name of the shop right now, it's on Berwick Street in Soho, but I will have a look this week and let you know a name and address. There's another shop over on the Edgware Road as well, incredible selection, and again, I will get you name and address. There is also McCulloch & Wallis, on a side street that looks like it's closed because they're doing construction, but it is not just across from John Lewis on Oxford Street.

Isabella? Do you mean of Isabella's Frocks? When did you meet her? Was it when you came over to the UK in 2005? Have to say I was in a bad place with work then so everything is a bit hazy but I don't remember meeting up with her at all.

Sorry - not with it at all at the moment.

It was in an e-mail a hundred years ago.

Aha! Thats why! Sorry - I thought it was through meeting her.

Saw her a few weeks back - she was at Stephen Walters Silk Factory! Nice to see her.

Okay, here you go:

Broadwick Silks
9-11 Broadwick Street, W1

The Silk Society
44 Berwick Street, W1

These two are in Soho and there are several other fabric stores along Berwick Street as well, selections vary.

Joel & Son
73-85 Church Street

This is a street that comes off the Edgware Road, just tell her to go outside the tube station, turn to the right and walk down the street. Church Street has a market on the week-end, so it's easy to find that, turn right onto Church Street and Joel & Sons is about a block down on the right side. It's kind of hard to see because the market stalls are set up in front, but it's there and it's open (and also quite expensive, but lovely fabrics).

There are also several other fabric stores in the area and she should also try some of the Indian/Middle Eastern fabric stores, which have great fabrics at reasonable prices.
