I have tried on my old corsets. Both the hemp cord one I'm wearing here and my original corsets made from the instructions on The elizabethan costuming page. And I'm too fat. At least for the "real" corset. I need to be able to comfortable tighten it about an inch more. The hemp cord corset met at the back but has other issues, like not fitting good at the bust area, so I actually threw it away. I knew I wouldn't be satisfied with it, even if I changed some stuff. I plan to be able to wear my other corset again because all my elizabethan costumes are based on it and it would be a shame not being able to wear them again. I will not start attacking my overweight seriously until after I've stopped nursing Maja though, since all the poisons in your body that are released as you loose weight will go over to the milk. If I manage to loose weight I might not be able to wear my effigy corset, but I guess it would be worth it, or that I could change it a little. It is pretty tight now so maybe a little less fat wouldn't be a big problem.

Date: 2004-09-29 01:52 am (UTC)There seem to be two kinds of women, those who loose a lot by nursing, some even stop nursing because they feel they're going to disappear and those who like my are unaffected by it. Typically the first type already are thin or have just gained a lot of weight during pregnancy while the second type are women who are prone to overweight anyway. We probably have a very energy-effective system which uses less energy both for moving and for producing milk.
Anyway, my goal is to not gain weight and then we'll see about losing weight when I can get back on my medication and start exercising more.
