A lovely book about 18th century clothing
Apr. 28th, 2009 01:13 pmI am currently reading The dress of the people - Everyday fashion in eighteenth century England by historian John Styles (2007); and what wonderful, well researched book it is! Apart from being very interesting it also gives me an urge to sew: I would very much like a gown from a cotton "Flowerd all over with cards", as it is described in the notes in the London foundling hospitals "billet books". Finding the fabric seems unlikely though.
