frualeydis: (18th century)

On Sunday there was a huge flea market in Majorna, a part of Gothenburg. Among the things I bought (mostly stuff for Maja) is these shoes, which I think with some fixing can be a reasonable fake for 17th and 18th century costumes. If I was doing those periods for real I would have bought replica shoes, but since I'm not I'm settling for something that looks reasonably good. At least for now. They were ca 6 dollars.

I think they would work very well! Any chance you can remove the present buckle and replace it with a proper buckle?

Honestly, these would be good shoes for you even if you were doing a museum quality impersonation! You'd be surprized what museum interpreters wear on their feet. I thought I was doing well issuing ladies oxford lace ups. I've seen sneakers at places like Jamestown!

I wouldn't worry too much...if you find some, great, if not they're great as is!

Also very usable for 1990s re-enactment.

Yep, the ugly, second half. But who's want to re-enact that?

Oh you are lucky! For period wear they would be perfect also for a man, for the 1740ies, only with a buckle in the middle. Lovely heals.
