I'm still obsessing over 40's and 50's dresses. While useful I need to start thinking about medieval clothing soon, since I have to finish the final part of my master's test in the medieval group Nordrike's Tailor's Guild: a man's outfit from ca 1300. It's not difficult, but it takes time; this far I've only made the shirt and hose.
In any case, here's the new dress that I started last week:




It's made from viscose from the 1940s :)

I made it myself, including the pattern, but that wasn't so complicated - a slightly blousing top gatherd under the bust and a lower part made much like a cotehardie ;) Except that it only widens at the side, but that was due to lack of fabric. These (http://omstil.blogg.se/2009/may/klanningsplaner.html) drawings provided some of the inspiration.
