Well, you all know that already. 28-30 C/82-86 F both out of doors and indoors is just too much. (No, we don't have A/C in private homes in Sweden, but then we don't emit close to 20 000 kilos of CO2 per capita either, despite long distances and a cold climate.)
It would have been nicer if our house didn't retain heat so well, but it was built fairly soon after the oil crisis in the 1970s so it's very well insulated and built to store heat. But I'll get use to it, or at least more used to it.

Wow, I was hoping it was less bad up there, guess not. I'm going to have to revise my holiday plans (for when I can actually afford it). So where do you get 18-24 degrees and no midges? :P

Our apartment is similar, built in the 50's but renovated in the 70s. We swapped out a big window for a mesh screen and that helps a bit but not much. We're lucky it's oriented east to west, with no windows on the south, or we'd be toast. As it is, my brains are trying to melt out of my head already. My colleagues think I'm nuts for avoiding the heat when it's 'so nice outside', but at least it's mutual. I think they're nuts for baking in the sun and vacationing in Spain or southern France.

It may well be cooler next week, it varies a lot. September is usually nice though.

I think it's about the same temperature here.
I can stand it fairly well, during the day, but during the night it bothers me a lot.

Dutch houses don't have airconditioning either. Dutch offices do, but with limiteded capacitiy, usually.
I am at the office now, but my shirt is all wet with sweat.

Same her in Seattle. Most homes don't have AC because we are of cooler climate. WE don't like hot

Having lived in L.A., SoCal, & Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, in temps. up to 47* Celsius, I found that it wasn't so much the temp., but the lack of air movement. A decent fan makes a helluva lot of difference!

All the best! Snorri.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity :)
