Since my husband (feels strange to write that!) used to live in Östersund I can tell you that I don't think it's an exaggeration. Especially since mosquitoes love me.

Even if the mosquitos are a bit smaller in real life it feels like they are that size when you are trying to sit outside a warm day. Especially since the bites swell up to a size of 1 - 1 1/2 cm on me and I itch until it bleeds. Luckily I found out that over the counter allergy medicin works so the bite don't swell up so much nor itch. I wish it would take away the soun too.

Those of us from the north of Canada also know this to be no exaggeration. Those guys are brutal. They say that Black Fly's and Mosquitoes make up most of the animal biomass in the Northwest Territories.
