When I was away in eastern Sweden, holding lectures, I also visited two fabric stores. Since I didn't want to carry the stuff with me on the train - I had enough stuff already - my friend B-M offered to bring it here when she came for [livejournal.com profile] herzeloyde's birthday party toady. So now I have my pretty, pretty fabric at home.

The dark brown wool with minty "spots" is for a 40s skirt and waist coat. The mint green wool (with some poly) flannel, which I had before, perfectly matches the "spots" and will be made into a jacket with a collar from the brown and a skirt - which gives me a suit with two different skirts.

The rayon brocades with metal threads will be trim and revers on my coming Swedish/German loose gown from the 1560s. They do NOT photograph well, but both the gold and the dark red one are gorgeous.

Beautiful brocades! Are they soft or more stiff?

Rather stiff and I'm going to mount them on velvet, which is stiff in itself, so I will look like a velvet and brocade cone. With puff sleeves.
