The new peplos

frualeydisBecause of an upcoming Halloween party with a greek or roman pantheon theme I have made a new peplos, from fine red wool and with a linen tabletwoven ribbon sewn to the upper edge. I will wear other fibulae, since these are a) nordic/germanic and b) something I want to reserve for ritual dress. I will also have a helmet and a Medusa badge, since I'm portraying Athena.
The peplos may be one of the least sexy styles you can find - at least with modern eyes. This is especially true if you, as I do, wear it as it was worn, i.e: without a bra.
