A suit

My yellow cotton summer suit inspired by one worn by Betty Grable in the film "Pin-up girl" from 1944, is now finished. It is not a very good photo and I didn't make my hair the 1940s way - mainly because I was going to Vendela's and Valeria's last day of school ceremony and didn't want to embarrass them. Or at least Vendela, Valeria doesn't seem to be embarrassed by anything that I do.

I am debating with myself whether I should shorten the sleeves, but apart from that I'm quite happy with it. I will, however, move the bust gore a little next time I make the jacket, because now it is a little bit too short and also a little to far out on the shoulder.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but shouldn't the jacket taper more sharply towards the waist? I seem to remember the suit in the picture as having the kind of hourglass silhouette (sp?) that looks like two sharp triangles. Or did you decide you preferred this look?

I actually think that the jacket is less shaped than mine, more straight, but tighter. I could have made it tighter and less shaped, but my bust is a bit too large for that. And of course I'm not a twenty year old and even 40s fashion shows that.
