Vendela's brustfleck.

The base fabric is a printed silk based on the woven pattern on "Queen Margaret's golden gown", from the early 15th century (dated by the pattern type rather than by the late attribution to Queen Margaret of Scandinavia), made by Duran Textiles (click the link and read about the fabric). The embroidery is made with rocaille beads and fresh water pearls.

I hope Vendela likes it.

And thank you for the link. I know several people who might like to know this fabric is available.

I have dreams about it too. I wish it was shinier though, since the reporduction of the orignal is really, really shiny. This is matte and thus more suited to a modern taste, but I have medieval sensibiliites and want shiny.

I was wondering a little about that, as the one in the domkyrka was really shiny. The first photo of the reproduced dress looked shiny, but not the rest--I couldn't tell if it was just that way in the photograph.

If its not inappropriate to ask what does a "brustfleck" do exactly?

It's a german 16th century thing. The dress is laced so that it is partly open over the smock in front and the brustfleck is covering the bosom.
