One always reads that the slits it the side of 18th century gowns were for the woman to reach her pockets which were hanging from the waist, unde rthe skirt. Well, I'm now reading "My amorous adventures", memories by a swedish nobleman from the 18th century and I see that they could have other uses too.

Date: 2010-09-03 08:35 pm (UTC)I did see one medieval drawing-- excerpted on a costume site as an example of a style-- showing I believe a 15th-century scene, featuring a man with his hand put through the lower part of the front opening of a woman's kirtle. Which is how I imagine the encounter you're describing probably went.
LOL I probably have a higher porn tolerance, but a much lower Swedish comprehension level.
