We now have an openly racist party in our parliament.

Well, we've had that before. What's new is that we now have white power activists in parliament. I'm ashamed to be Swedish.

I wonder what is wrong with people. Don't they think? Or analyze? Or have a clue about the history of that party.

Not really surprised. I've been afraid hardcore scary fascist movements would start to rise ever since I saw that guy wearing a Nazi t-shirt reading Mein Kampf in Mumbai.

Yeah, long story there. Short story is, ouch. How much damage can they do? I'm scared to find out.

Oh no, I am so sorry... It is hard to believe that Sweden has racism or anything to be racist about

Forgive me, but to which party are you referring? This isn't an American being insular about global politics - I have trouble keeping track of politics here most of the time.

I was looking at the entries for the various parties, and the only one that looked like it might fir the bill was the Sverigedemokraterna and I don't see that they actually got any seats.

I'm still stunned, 20 seats! What part of the country was voting that way?

I have read all your writings and quite a number of your links about Swedish politics, "utförsikring" etc, and I am sorry the election went like that.

I had misunderstood the word utförsikring, I thought it had something to do with insurance companies. That when your approved sick period was over you had to go to an insurance company for money, because in Norwegian, forsikring means insurance. And I thought it was "ut-" in the sense out is used in outsorcing. Sometimes I really need a Swedish dictionary. (My friend just explained it to me over lunch).
