I'm making Maja a gingerbread girl dress for Lucia. I'm making it from brown cotton sheeting and white wide ric-rac trim. It shouldn't be too difficult.

In other sewign news I have finished my berry pink/red rayon dress and as soon as my hair is dry I will take a photo of me in it. I really, really like the model and will probably make lots more.

And in non-sewing news Rickard and I are going to go see Teenage Fanclub tonight.

Interesting, I didn't know Finns celebrated this. Frankly with the number of Italian and Finnish descendents here I'm surprised I've never seen such a celebration here.

Enjoy the concert!

I'm a swede. And we have a famous Lucia tradition with blonde girls in shifts with red ribbons aroudn theuir waists and the Lucia has a coronet or wreath with candles on her head.

"I'm a swede"

Oops! Sorry, I know that, I just didn't do a good job explaining that I was responding to the Wikipedia article about it and not directly to the post. My bad. :(

*winces*

It does sound like a cool tradition though. We don't have anything like that here in Canada, at least as far as I know. I hope your daughter has fun.

Ok, I was a little surprised. Since Finland was part of Sweden until 1809 we have a lot of traditions in common.
