This day that started so badly has turned out much better than I thought it would. First I learn that [livejournal.com profile] guyelfkin, the kindest evil bunny around, has bought a book for me that I can pick up when I go see him in April and then I call home (to tell Rickard I love him, because I just heard "She bangs the drums" by the Stone Roses and it evoked some fond memories) and Rickard tells me that my samples from Denverfabrics has arrived.
There's nothing like a fabric fix.

I ended up with the brick dust, plum wine, patriot blue, and sierra taffetas in this second bout of swatch ordering. I ended up ordering 6 yards each of the patriot, plum, and brickdust to make kirtles out of. The brickdust one ended up being such a smashing color I just adore it. Its a pinky rosy red that just makes me happy. The sierra is a red and pale yellow shot taffeta that is really pretty I almost got some of it as well, but budget and all that silly nonsense. I like the patriot blue but yes it is very dark, it will make for a nice somber kirtle though. It will look good under my spanish surcoat. The plum I got mostly for the fact its purple. I adore purple. I am going to make the kirtles with matching tudor false sleeves and regular detachable sleeves so that I can get more wear out of them :D

Hmm, brick dust sounds interesting. I'm going to take a look at that.
