What buttons to use?
Mar. 30th, 2007 10:09 pmI have attached the collar so now all that remains to do on Rickard's doublet is the lacing holes where the doublet is tied to his slops, the button holes and the buttons. I have a strong feeling that I should make round buttons with silk thread but I also very much don't feel like making any.
But most replica 16th century buttons I've seen doesn't seem to fit this nice dark blue fulled wool with silk showing through in the slits. Pewter seems a little to simple for it.
Does anybody know if they still made those nice wool buttons that they've found in excavations from the 14th century, in the 16th century?
Or should I order buttons?
Decisions, decisions. The fact that I don't know yet if he can use his old paned slops with some alterations or if I have to make him new pants and that I want to make him a hat too before the 14th of april doesn't make the decision easier.
