You all know that we are short of money and that I shouldn't buy any more fabric or clothes or such. Well on friday I bought three pair of thick tights(one cotton, two wool) which at least is something I need since I seem to have worn out all my thick tights last winter and I always wear skirts.
But today I went to a (very small) sewing fair that's held this weekend and of course I couldn't stay away from the fabric. I bought some fusible interfacing that I need for another project and then I saw this wonderful, very small whale corduroy which had a flower print in different shades of berry red/burgundy with some outlines of the flowers in gold. I just couldn't resist it and bought two metres of it. Now I have to decide what to make of it. I could make a skirt, but I'm thinking about making a dress with a body similar to my grey corset, a (little higher in the neck though)and a gored skirt. I have to make some tests first and I have too many sewing projects right now, both mundane and medieval to start on it now. But it would be fun for the department's christmas party.
I think I would need something to hold out the skirt a little, but I have lots of black tulle from a skirt I made in the 80s.
Lots to think about.

I think fabric is a necessity of life. (Says the woman who just brought 4 metres of linen with English emboidery that will be a Regency-dress- someday. Ah well, who needs to eat?)

I never wear trousers either, and haven't for 15 years or so. I just never found a pair that both fitted and was comfortable. And so I need to but thick tights as well, as all of mine was worn out last winter as well. :-)

Oh, I think the plan for the courderoy sounds absolutely lovely.

Noo! Don't kill your black tulle skirt! I want to buy it, if it fits me decently!

No, you don't want to. It's just a lot of tulle gathered and sewn to a waistband, like a long tutu. I mde it myself back then. You can do it yourself and it's too big anyway, the waist is probably 75-78 centimetres.

The red/burgundy corset-sytle bodice with black tulle skirt sounds excellent! Is the gored skirt going to be black?

No, red, the same fabric. I'm pondering whether to make the corset and sirt separate or as one. Making them separate would make it more useful since I could use the skirt with normal tops for everyday wear.
