Looking for enameled ornaments
Apr. 9th, 2006 02:53 pmHas anyone seen anything even vaguely resembling the enameled ornaments on the tunicella that belongs to the coronation insignia of the Holy Roman Empire?
They don't have to be shaped like the original, round would be fine and the pattern doesn't have to be exact either, just of the same kind. It could be ornaments or buttons, as long as it's possible to sew them. Preferably an on-line shop of course.
Yes. I am finally going to start on the embroidery for Rickard's silk tunicella.

Date: 2006-04-09 03:23 pm (UTC)I won't make the border at the hem, most pictures show borders at the neck and cuffs, not at the hem. I will tablet weave the trim for the neck with silk thread. I will have to order blue though, since we only dyed with cochineal, madder and onion peels when we dyed silk thread last summer.

Date: 2006-04-09 08:08 pm (UTC)although, from the image link, they looked more like flat champlevé enamels, rather than like those chinese cloisoné enamels at tradera.
oh, they makes me wish i had the possibility to continue my enamelling experiments from last summer... unfortunately i'm not at all up to bronze casting, since modelling or enamelwise they actually seem like quite simple ornaments to acheive.

Date: 2006-04-09 09:11 pm (UTC)what matters most to you? getting hold of any usable enamelled metal decoratio, or achieving the right shape and motif but in a faked material?
for example, if one could get hold of a usuable metal backing, it might not be impossible to make some kind of enamelled decoration with epoxyresins...
a further step into fakedom would be to make even the "metal backings" in epoxyresins, which would enable you to copy the exact forms of the decorations...
