[livejournal.com profile] bippimalin was here yesterday and gave me a CD with lots of (mostly) early 16th century pictures. I think (know) she's trying to persuade me to make something german from my brown wool. We'll have too see about that. I am going to the university now and since I have Weigel's Trachtenbuch there I might get inspired. I have other things to do however; I'm going to meet a fellow teacher and discuss the gradings of the latest tests. I also have some books to pick up at the library. And one book I'm only allowed to read inside the library, which bums me, since I planned to scan pictures from it.

Anyway, back to the brown wool. I think it will be something from the 16th century. First I thought I would make a kirtle to wear while cooking, working, slacking etc. The green kirtle I made to go under the flemish outfit gives lots of support, but since it has a pointed front it isn't ideal for bending down to tend fires etc. But on the other hand I already have my french peasant dress. Since I weigh less now than when I took those pictures it should be pretty comfortable. I also have the rose red kirtle I wear with my english early 16th century dress. So maybe I don't need a new kirtle as much as a new dress. I will have to think about this.

Do you know this link. Baba_studio just sent it to me. It is a group that has and shows photos of exquisite Baroque costumes.
Try it - I think you'll like it.

I love the french peasant's dress you made, well I love all of them, but I'm french, so...

How do you get the skirt to stay tucked up? I have given up on the whole string idea, cause it just slides. I have ended up pulling skirts through the slits for my pockets.
