Pain

I wish I could sleep, but it hurts too much. Not really any effective contractions, just a general feeling of having menstrual cramps. And pain in my ribcage and hands, but that's not related to the baby.
But I hate getting this little sleep, because if it starts today I will tired from the beginning.
I dreamed I had the baby tonight. It was a very easy and quick birth, the midwife didn't make it in time. Considering it took 48 hours last time, this isn't very likely. It was a girl in the dream.

Perhaps take a warm bath or shower and be sure to eat at least a little. I found that I was able to sleep through part of my labor after a warm bath (I also had a long labor).

Sounds at the very least like prodromal labor (from 1-3 cm) Went through it for at least 3 weeks with all 4. I wouldn't be surprised if hard labor really gets started very soon. I absolutely agree with Ysabelot. Remember, every labor is different. However, if this does continue for a day or two, going to a hospital and getting a dose of Seconal might be worth it. Stops the contractions that aren't doing much other than keeping you awake and knocks you out for some much needed rest. Be prepared to need a babysitter should this need to happen. Someone tell me to shut up already.

Are you serious? Ok, shut up.

No, really, these could also be Braxton-Hicks contractions, sometimes known as "false labor". If you get up and do something different, like walk around if you're sitting, or sit down if you're walking, and they go away, they're Braxton-Hicks. Could be a while if they are.

I was in labor with my son for a classic 17 hours, most of it with him facing my tummy rather than my spine, not so comfortable! With my daughter, it went on for 2 1/2 weeks. As a childbirth instructor, I was not about to use painkillers that can depress the child.

Sending love and hugs and and an easy going of it. I agree about the warm tub. Very relaxing, very restful, and eases labor pains.

xoxo

Number two of my twins faced my tummy too, so I know the feeling; the contiunous back-pain especially. I also think they are "false labor" (in Sweden called "pre-labor", roughly translated). I never had those last time, it all started with the waters breaking and then I got weak contractions that disappeared when I got to the hospital and didn't start in earnest until 24 hours later.
I'm not going to use any painkillers either (except for some paracetamol against the arthritis pain) and the baby is going to be born at home so at least I don't have to worry about when to leave for the hospital, just when to call Agneta, my midwife.
I've just taken a bath and feel rather well. Most of the pain is surprisingly when I lie down, but the contractions are stronger when I walk around. Still I need to sleep. Maybe I'm relaxed enough now.
