Illumination
Apr. 25th, 2004 11:10 amMy local medieval group has a course on 15th century book illumination this weekend. For obvious reasons I'm not going, but I've been thinking about going there just to be social. Especially since the teacher (Myra, she had a wonderful Durer gown on AIPON) doesn't live in town and I don't see her very often. Yesterday they made period pigments (pretty poisonous stuff some of it) and today they are learning the painting techniques. It would be nice just to go there and see them and maybe pick up some knowledge in the process. I could always bring my embroidery so that I have something to do while chatting. It's just that it will probably take c. 40 minutes by tram and bus and in a way I actually enjoy my self-chosen isolation. I wish Rickard was home of course, but apart from that I tend to think of other people calling or coming round as "intruders" who disturb my peace (except Anna, we are very good at sitting together, working and not talking too much). I'm really focusing more and more inwards these days. On monday the kids will come anyway so then there will be no more peace and quiet. I miss them, but it's nice just to rest too.
Well, I don't have to decide now. I'm going to have some tea and then I'm going to go to the nearest shop and get some cat food since we're out of it.
