A good day

Today I've been to my home village. My step-grandfather died three weeks ago and was buried today. It was a good service and lots of people and the weather was divine. After the reception we went to my stepfather's house and his girlfriend and I watched my sister's one year old daughter while she, her husband and my step-dad went to a nearby small town for a meeting with the bank, since my sister and her husband just bought a house. Anita and I spent two hours or so walking around in teh gardens, feeding Sara and ourselves with grapes, apple, tomatoes and plums and watching the dachshound eat apples and raspberries (which he picks himself from the bushes). I left with lovely red apples and 2 litres of chanterelles. Now I'm home and relaxing, after cleaning and frying the chanterelles.

I'm glad the service was good. Things like that can be so sensitive.

Sounds like a very accomplished dachshund.

Fast av någon anledning hade de valt "La Paloma" som solosång och jag glömde fråga varför.

Definitely, most were relieved, since he was getting very tired and ill. Still grieving o fcourse, but it all made sense, if you know what I mean.

I think I do. You mourn, but you still feel relief that the suffering is over and that they are at peace.

I am so sorry about your step-grandfather. Its got to be hard for you right now. And I hope things get easier for you. I just lost my great grandfather on Tues 8. He was 97. He said he would live to be 100 but his sickness took him first. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you. It really was a relief most of all - he wasn't ill as such, just finished with his life and slowly slid away, sleeping more and more until he didn't wake up, but he had been twice to the hospital that week so we knew it was getting close.
