The beret of DOOM

OK girls and boys! I've wanted this type of tudor headwear for almost a decade now. I know there are at least two Holbein portraits with this bonnet-coif combination too, but I can't find any on the internet. When you look at the portraits the bonnets doesn't seem to have any seams and look very much like oversized berets. So I think; knitting a huge beret from white wool and then felt it. What do you all say about that theory? Marion? Anyone?

PS. I know it's sort of ugly but I want silly hats.

except for casting on (which i never manage to remember from time to time) it's not very complicated at all, really! it actually makes all kinds of colourwork and patterning much easier and enables at least me to keep a nice and even tension of all the floating yarns on the reverse... if you don't know anyone else in the gothenburg area who's into that knitting technique i'll gladly show you sometime? and as it is at the moment, i happen to visit my childhood city a bit more frequently than before;)

also, i managed to teach myself the technique from a library book. i'm quite convinced you'll get the hang of it easily too.

Actually Anna/Ingeborg, who's quite obsessed with knitting, has repeatedly said that she wants to learn tvåändsstickning and I would like to learn it too, so if you have time while you're down here we would be really grateful.

fun! more knitting friends makes life happy ;) didn't know anna was an obsessed knitter. but, suppose i should've guessed!

i might be down in beginning of january, am starting the year with taking some days of work! but after mid-january i've again absolutely no idea how frequently i might be going to gbg?
however, i will come down eventually :)

/m -wanting more daylight! inpainting work in december is too miserable....
